Shiny. But empty. Relient K. (yes, there's more). Belts. Company.

I didn't spellcheck the first time I posted this. Clearly I should've, But here's the edited version.
enjoy.

I recently passed through the town of Las Vegas. Which isn't particularly abnormal, considering I've driven there many times. (en route to Cali.)
This time was special, actually, unique would be a better word.
Las Vegas, on the outside, is beautiful at times. There's some amazing attention to detail in the architecture of the hotels and casinos.
But I digress.
This was special because it was the first time I've ever stopped to see something in Vegas.
My brother had an intense desire to visit the coca cola store and M&M world. So, we decided to take a little detour and indulge His dream. Unfortunately, my favorite little brothers' dream received a rude and disappointing awakening to shiny consumerism. Shiny, but still consumerism.
My brother had hoped for Free Samples at the coke store. No free samples, but you could pay 7 bucks to taste a few. The store was stuffed with all kinds of things you could buy with the coke label on them. For much more money than they're worth, of course. But worse than this were all the tourists who totally ate it up. I watched as they were willingly robbed so they could advertise for the coca-cola company.
The M&M store was about the same thing. Shiny and exciting on the outside, and a grim charade of happiness inside.
But that sums up Las Vegas doesn't it?
It promises riches, but most come home poor.
It promises fun and excitement, but eventually you end with reality and consequences.
It promises fufillment, but all you're left with in the end is an empty feeling.
I'm glad God doesn't work that way.
He gives the riches of his mercy and grace. And it's not something we'll ever run out of.
He gives everlasting joy to help us through reality.
He takes away the empty feeling and fills us with His love.

Things that bring a smile to my face:
Goldfish Crackers and Little kids.

Getting into: Relient K

Album: The anatomy of tongue in Cheek

What you need:
Pressing On -it's encouraging and fun to sing along with in the car.
Sadie Hawkins Dance - oh oh oh ;)
My way or the highway to hell - serious reminder. But there's also some funny humor in it. (i.e. "add a cello here, to make a sad impression".)
Less is more - This. is . way. pretty.

What you need, but less so:
Maybe it's maybelline - don't blame other people for your own actions. plus, it has a clever hook involving a line from makeup advertising.
Those words are not enough. - it speaketh the truth, comrade.
May the horse be with you - My theme song for a substantal amount of my life.

Fun little extra stuff:
Kick- Off - this makes me smile. every time.
Breakdown - life's little frustrations.
Lion Wilson and I'm Lion - O. They go together. If you're confused, it's a reference to an older cartoon called, "Thundercats." Look it up sometime. I dare ya. ;)

Things that don't bring a smile to my face:
Boys who need a belt and People who don't put away shopping carts.

I like British accents. But I like British singing voices even better.
I just really, really, like their general tone.
One of my favorite British voices is that of Kate Nash’s'.
One of my favorite songs of hers is called, "Paris".
Have a listen here: http://grooveshark.com/#/s/Paris/2JRpCe?src=5
I love the combination of electric guitar, strings, and keys.
The music has a soaring feel. Not a, 'on the edge of something about jump'. No, it's a ' I just jumped and I'm currently in freefall'.
The quite piano part is the, ' I'm slowing down and almost ready to land' part, and then it builds up to, 'Psych! that was just a nice peaceful interlude'.

Anyway, the music is great, but I love the lyrics, too.
They’re happy, but somewhat sad in parts. It’s a nice ‘sweet and sour’ kind of combination.
My favorite line is:

“You said you’d lend me
anything.
I think I’ll have your
company.”

Yup . That about sums it up.
